Hey, Mr Sam Cooke

Hey, Mr Sam Cooke
Where ever you are, take a look

This is a thank you poem
I think you know 'em

The one's where I say you touched my heart
How your lyrics to me are truly art

Though you left before my arrival
You've been a little part of my survival

No negative attachments to your songs
I've listened to you my whole life long

I listen to you when I'm down
Then the blues don't wanna stick around

Your music puts a smile on my face
My heart for you holds a special place

Mr. Sam Cooke, where ever you are
Forever to me, you'll be a star

Day By Day

A house is not a home
Without you there
Without you in my world
I belong nowhere

Just hanging in there
Fulfilling my mission
Wondering how long
I'll stay in this position

Just doing God's will
As long as He wants
I gotta be truthful
The loneliness  haunts

All I know to do
Is to keep my eyes on the prize
You're the ultimate reward
At least in my eyes

The Car And The Engine

The car was finely assembled
Later the engine was too
Both were made
To do what they do

The car was a beauty on it's own
The engine made it enhance
Without the engine, the car was still admired
The engine was made for it and not by chance

Then one day the car was totaled
By years of wear and tear
The engine was removed
It was more than it could bear

The engine was left in the salvage
To rust away as it said goodbye
Waiting one day to be reunited with car
In the big repair shop in the sky
