The Tear

Sitting alone in the dark
Waiting for her love to arrive
Every moment she is waiting
For the promise that makes her thrive

Every single day
A single tear falls down her face
Sometimes it turns into a waterfall
Yet she remains steadily in her place

Her childlike faith keeps her going on
Too wise to make impatient mistakes as she had done before
It doesn't make the waiting any easier
But there is a certain solace that age bore

She sits alone in the dark
Knowing one day his chariot will claim her
Until that day she sheds a single, daily tear
The heart wants what it wants, who could blame her
